I think my boyfriend is gay?

There is no way to know for sure, unless he were to tell you it was so. I'm gay, so I won't fool anyone into thinking that I fully understand the psyche of heteroual men, but I don't see anything out of the ordinary. If he has already told you he isn't gay (I'm uming from the comment that he got defensive when questioned), I would take him on his word.
