I had a pkg delivered to my home and when I went to return it, it was gone. Can I get into trouble?

I don't know if someone stole it or if it got thrown away accidentally with boxes since I had just moved into my apartment and was unpacking. I live with two other people and had a friend staying on my couch for a month and I'm the only person with a full time job so I'm never here. I rephrased this question because some really nasty people were saying terrible things about me.
